At our School
This month was mission month at our school. Here is a picture of one of the our chapel meetings where our missionaries being deployed to Peru are featured. We were able to share hospitality with the Robb family (in the center of photo), and we enjoyed playing Code Names together in Spanish. Lynn and I both have the privilege of teaching their children.
I listened to Rich Richardson's message from the Sovereign Grace pastors conference in 2017, and I have prayed about our role here in Costa Rica. Link I think that Lynn and I have entered into the process described in Mark Prater's latest podcast about redefining the role of missions here. We entered the country as retired teachers, and, like Paul, have used our skill to open doors to residency and support for our churches. This role has kept us busy teaching English and Bible at a Christian school in the city of San Jose. This school was established to teach traditional missionaries the Spanish Language before being deployed into Latin America. We hav a role in this process as we teach their children. We've also begun reaching out to the missionary families with hospitality and prayer support.
The school has been kind in limiting my work to three teaching days per week.
During those Bible lessons, my students have been working on prayer journals to form a habit of prayer for 21 days. We have also completed a two debates on current topics.
Lynn continues to have a full time load of classes with six new lesson preps. Most of her time is occupied with lesson prep., but she is beginning to 'find her groove' as she gets to know her students and their English proficiency.
We took a quick trip home to see our grandson Zachary this month. While we were there we got COVID booster and flue shots on Saturday. Sunday was not a fun travel day. We came out of the brain fog on Monday.
